Cooperation between peasants
The Organic Corner coop is a marketing project founded with four other farms: (Windy Hill Organic Farm, Ferme ALVA, Jardins Vert l'Avenir et Sweet Soil Organic Farm) from South Eastern NB. Together, we offer the largest diversity of certified organic fruits and vegetables in the Moncton region . You can find us at the Dieppe Farmers Markets.
Really Local Harvest is a coop of 30 farms from South Eastern NB. The coop markets jointly via the Dieppe Market and promotional campaigns around local foods.
The Family Farmer project has been supporting a hundred plus family farms and in the last couple years many farms have joined their ranks. We joined in 2017 and we happy with that decision. The network of family farms is devoted to promoting CSA concept to the public as well as offering services to farmers. On our end, we benefit from discounts with many suppliers, workshops and sharing opportunities and a web application to track registrations as well as an online store.
ACORN (Atlantic Canadian Organic Regional Network) is an organisation based in Sackville, NB that has as its mission the promotion of organic agricultural-within the agricultural community as well as consumers. Each year, we take advantage of a three day conference organized by ACORN to learn, share, and socialize with other peasants in the organic sector.
EcoCert Canada is the certifying body for organic production with who we are working. An inspector comes to the farm once a year to audit our production. By clicking on their logo, you can read more about the process to become certified. By clicking here, you can see our certificat.
The National Farmers Union has been working for farmers for over 40 years. For the last eight years, we are one of two accredited farmer organizations in the province. Our members produce all kinds of foods on on kinds of farms. We also have associate members that are not farmers but passionate about the sector and wanting to support the work. Rebeka and Pierre-Olivier are on the provincial board of directors and Pierre-Olivier is also on the national board of directors.
L’Union paysanne's objective is to organize as a collective force to represent those in favour of a peasant agricultural and food system. As an agricultural and citizen association, l'UP defends the interests of peasants and artisans from the farm to the fork. Our members are mostly farmers but the organization also makes room for citizens wanting to get involved to get involved in developing a human scaled food system. Pierre-Olivier is on the board of directors and also involve with the international committee.
La Via Campesina is an international peasant movement that brings together millions of peasants, small and medium producers, landless workers, migrants workers, indigenous, women and yougn people throughout the world. The organization defends sustainable agricultural as a mean to promote social justice and dignity. It opposes industrial agriculture and multinationals that destroy people and the planet. La Via Campesina includes 164 local and national organisations in 73 countries in Africa, Asia, Europe and the Americas. In all, it represents 200 millions peasants. It is an autonomous movement, plural and multicultural without political, economic or other affiliations. Pierre-Olivier is a member of the political committee of the north american region and he also represent the region on the political formation working collective at the international level.
In partnership with the medical clinic, M. Tomato, Green Thumb farm and others, each year we plant a community garden that becomes a wonderful community space from spring to fall. In fact, we use it as a pick up point for our vegetables baskets in the region.
We are always very happy to welcome students from École Étoile de l'Acadie for a day on the farm, delivering cooking classes or building a chicken coop in the classroom with Claude Vautour. ""Education is the most powerful weapon to change the world".
We have been members of the Greater Rogersville Chamber of Commerce since 2015 and together we promote buying local.
